Swimming Sits In Third At Sun Belt Championships

ROCKWALL, Texas- North Texas sits in third after the third day of the Sun Belt Swimming & Diving Championships. Catia Weickgenant lowered her school record and finished third in the 200 yard freestyle relay.
Catia Weickgenant finished 3rd in the 200 yard freestyle relay, swimming a 1:49.46, which lowers her school record that she set earlier this meet leading off the 800 free relay. Weickgenant has had a torrid start to the conference championships, setting two school records, winning an individual event, and winning two more medals, one of which was in a relay.
Rosa Gentile finished fourth in the 100 yard buttefly finals with a time of 54.96, just barely getting out-touched for 3rd by one hundredth of a second and missing on second place by less than two-tenths of a second. North Texas now sits in third but has a strong event coming up in the 200 freestyle.
Hilary Riedmann won the 400 yard individual medley consolation with a time of 4:28.30, edging out Stephanie Martin of Western Kentucky by seven-tenths of a second. Reidmann just missed lowering her school record of 4:28.11 set earlier this year.
Sarida Muslow leads North Texas and finishes 6th in the 100 yard breaststroke. North Texas still sits in third, although the 200 yard freestyle has still not been scored.
North Texas finished fourth in the 400 yard medley relay, swimming the second-fastest time in school history at 3:48.43. Stephanie Bernier, Muslow, Gentile and Seabre Pope just missed tying the school record by nine-tenths of a second.
The meet concludes tomorrow with two sessions in Rockwall, with strong events for North Texas on the schedule. Prelims start at 11 a.m. and the finals start at 6 p.m.
