McCarney Announces 2011 Leadership Committee

DENTON, Texas (8/26/11) - Mean Green head football coach Dan McCarney has announced the team's 2011 Leadership Committee, which, along with team captains will be the team's primary representatives of both on and off-field activities and serve as liaisons to the coaching staff. The Leadership Committee is served by players from each class on the team.
Serving the senior class for the Mean Green in 2011 will be running back Lance Dunbar, cornerback Royce Hill and center J.J. Johnson. The junior class will be led by linebacker Jeremy Phillips and U back Daniel Prior. Sophomore representatives to the committee will be linebacker Zach Orr and offensive lineman Mason Y'Barbo. The freshman class will feature offensive lineman Cyril Lemon and quarterback Andrew McNulty.
"As we begin to set the tone and raise the level of expectations for this team, it will be imperative for this Leadership committee to lead by example," McCarney said. "They all possess the qualities necessary to help guide this team down a path to success and that is what we expect of them."
In addition to the Leadership committee, the team also voted on team captains, who will represent the team on the field. Quarterback Derek Thompson will join Johnson as the offensive captains while Hill and Orr will be the defensive captains. Special teams captains will be selected each week based upon performance and leadership.
