Starkova Named SBC Player Of The Week

DENTON, Texas (2/27/13) - North Texas tennis senior Valentina Starkova was named the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Week on Wednesday for her efforts against No. 30 Arizona.
No. 12 regionally ranked Starkova defeated Arizona's Laura Oldham in straight sets, 6-3; 7-5, in the No. 3 singles position. Starkova moved to 6-0 for the season.
Starkova teamed up with fellow senior Barbora Vykydalova for the doubles portion of the match. The duo, which made the move to the No. 1 spot, defeated Lacey Smyth and Shayne Austin 8-2 to help give the Mean Green an early advantage.
The Mean Green will host cross-town rival No. 20 TCU today at 2 p.m.
