DENTON - For the past several weeks, North Texas student-athletes from a variety of sports have spent a portion of their afternoons in the summer sun. Not laying by the pool like many classmates, but on the practice fields going through preseason conditioning drills.
The drills have been conducted under the close scrutiny of strength coaches and trainers.
But next week, the football, soccer, and volleyball teams trade July's conditioning for August's preseason camps. Although temperatures won't be any cooler, the teams are finally beginning to prepare for season-opening games at the end of the month.
