Soccer Rounds Out Non-Conference Schedule This Weekend

In the last 10 years, North Texas has never won more than six games prior to its first conference game. North Texas has also never given up fewer than five goals in the opening non-conference schedule in the last 10 years. In 2014, the Mean Green has given up just three goals, which leads the conference.
North Texas has played a variety of teams in its non-conference schedule. It has picked up wins against an SEC school (Vanderbilt) and a Pac-12 School (Oregon State). The Mean Green is also 3-0 against the Southland Conference and is 1-0 vs. a SWAC school. NT is 0-1 against the Big XII Conference with the overtime loss to Oklahoma. With its Friday night game against Gonzaga, North Texas will be playing a West Coast Conference team for the first time in school history.
For the second straight week, North Texas received votes in the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division I Women's National Poll (Sept. 16). North Texas also moved up one spot to No. 7 in the regional poll. The Mean Green is ahead of Texas in the regional poll but behind Rice by two spots.
With her five saves against Houston Baptist, Jackie Kerestine ties a season high and moves into fourth place in the North Texas record book with 204 career saves. She earned the shutout and the victory in goal. With the shutout, she is now tied with Mandy Hall for the career shutout record at North Texas. She is now 6-1 this season in goal. Five of her six wins have been shutouts. She also moved into a tie for second with 37 career wins.
