DENTON - Senior forward Rachel Holden will walk the stage at commencement this weekend with one more accolade to add to her list of achievements. The soccer student-athlete was named to the 2016 NCAA Division I Women's Scholar All-South Region Third Team, announced by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America on Thursday.
Holden was named a scholar-athlete after a stellar career on and off the field for the University of North Texas. The Lancaster, Texas, native is graduating this weekend with a kinesiology degree after carrying a 3.52 grade point average.

She finished first on the team with 10 goals and second with 24 points, and she was named all-conference for the fourth-straight year. Holden is ranked in the top 10 in the North Texas record books in career points (84), career goals (38) and career game-winning goals (16).
Off the field, Holden was named to the Conference USA InTouch Credit Union Women's Soccer All-Academic Team for the third time. She was named to the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll the last two years and was also named a C-USA Academic Medal Winner for the 2013-14 school year.
