Name: Emily Rush
Class: Senior
Event: Backstroke
Hometown: Baton Rouge, LA
Q: How does Denton differ from your hometown?
A: Denton is smaller and more diverse than Baton Rouge. It is also more of a college friendly town. Denton also has more local shops and restaurants that I really enjoy going to. However, Denton does not have delicious crawfish in the springtime like home does.
Q: Who or what got you into the sport?
A: My mom got me in the sport. She was also a swimmer and still swims to this day.
Q: What is your favorite event to compete in?
A: 50 Back on a relay
Q: What event do you hope to never compete in?
A: 200 fly
Q: What are you looking forward to most about the upcoming season?
A: I am really excited to have Brittany as the head coach. I think that she has great ideas that will help our team reach its highest potential.
Q: What is your favorite sport to watch during the Olympics?
A: I like to watch all of it, but swimming, soccer and track and field are my favorites.
Q: Who is your team family?
A: Royals
Q: Do you have a hidden (or not so hidden) talent?
A: Does over packing count? Because I am definitely a pro.
Q: If you could trade places with one person, who would it be and why?
A: Probably Peyton Manning, but at the start of his career. I mean who wouldn't want to be one of the greatest football players? Also, he is from New Orleans, which is one of my favorite cities.
Q: As a senior, what will you miss most about the team?
A: I will miss my teammates the most. Each one is so different, but we all share the same love for the sport. It's hard to find a group of 30 girls that can get along so well while being so different.
