IRVING – Mean Green swimmer Jowita Sienczyk was named the Conference USA Swimmer of the Week, the conference office announced Wednesday.
"It's an honor to be selected and I'm looking forward to this season and all the challenges it has to offer," Sienczyk said.
Sienczyk is the first North Texas swimmer to earn the weekly award since Rebekah Bradley on Feb. 2, 2016.
"Jowita has been more focused than I've ever seen her and it's nice that she is getting recognized for her efforts," head coach Brittany Roth said. "We hope to keep this momentum going forward to have even more success."
On Saturday, Sienczyk was a part of four first-place finishes in a 207-80 road victory over Little Rock. She won both the 100- and 200-yard backstroke with times of 58.57 and 2:07.22, respectively.
The Biala Podlaska, Poland, native helped the Mean Green to victories in the 400-yard medley relay and 200-yard freestyle relay, in which she clocked a career-best 50-yard freestyle time of 24.22.
Sienczyk and North Texas are back in action in a double-dual meet against SMU and Houston on Oct. 20 at the Robson & Lindley Aquatics Center in Dallas.
