Stracke Adds One More To Golf Signing Class

DENTON – Coming off a successful fall season, North Texas men's golf coach Brad Stracke added a fourth fall signee to his 2019-20 roster on Friday with the signing of Hiroki Miya after signing three decorated athletes last week.
Miya, from Christchurch, New Zealand, has a World Amateur Golf Ranking of No. 948 after several strong finishes on the junior circuit in the Oceania region, as well as Asia. Miya won the Faldo Series Asia Grand Final and the North Island U19 championship in 2018. Last year, Miya won the Faldo Series Asia New Zealand championship, as well as the Canterbury Match Play title and the Otago Stroke Play championship.
Alejandro Madariaga Couttolenc (Puebla, Mexico) signed with the Mean Green after a successful year on the junior circuit, including a win at the Copa Zona Centro in Mexico, a fifth-place finish at the U.S. Junior Amateur Championship and a top-15 finish at the Junior Players Championship. He also took second at the Junior Americas Cup this summer. He is ranked No. 772 in the World Amateur Golf Rankings and No. 24 on the National Junior Golf Scoreboard.
Santiago Chamorro (Bogota, Colombia) signed with North Texas with several top finishes already on his ledger. Chamorro won the National Juvenile Copa and finished second in both the Campeonato Internacional and the IMG Junior Championship. He is currently ranked No. 1,162 in the WAGR rankings.
Zak Karkaletsos (Estepona, Spain) took second in the Sotogrande International, ninth in the British Boys Championship and sixth in the Campeonato Internacional. He is currently ranked No. 1,516 in the WAGR rankings.
"I'm excited to sign four talented players for the 2019 class," said Stracke, who will be entering his 11th season when the players arrive in the fall. "All four of these players have had a lot of success in big-time events. I look forward to working with these guys the next four years."
