Mean Green Host Throwback Thursday Game

DENTON — The 12-1 Mean Green men's basketball team is off to one of the best starts in school history, surpassing the 1975-76 team that began 11-1.Â
In honor of the historic start to the season, North Texas is rolling back the clock on Thursday, Jan. 3, for its Conference USA home-opener against Louisiana Tech. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. CT.Â
General admission tickets will be just $5 and concession items such as soda and popcorn will be reduced in price to as low as $1, similar to prices in the 1970s.Â
Fans can purchase tickets online and enter the promo code "History" to purchase the reduced price tickets.
In addition, the first 1,000 fans will get free t-shirts with the 1970's North Texas flying worm logo on it.Â
LA Tech and the Mean Green are expected to finish at the top of the conference standings this year. Thursday is the only scheduled meeting between the schools. UNT and the Bulldogs feature two of the top offenses in the league and are deep at the guard position.Â
North Texas will enter Thursday's game undefeated at the Super Pit this season and with an 11-game home win streak dating back to last year.Â
