DENTON — The North Texas soccer team's Conference USA opener at Old Dominion in Norfolk, Virginia, on Friday has been postponed due to Hurricane Florence.
The Mean Green (5-1-1) had not yet left for ODU, but were scheduled to play the Monarchs on Friday at 6:00 p.m. CT to begin C-USA play. They instead will wait a week until their next match, which is scheduled for Thursday Sept. 20 at Southern Miss. A game at ODU will be rescheduled, however, an exact day or time has not yet been determined.
This is North Texas' second consecutive match that has been postponed because of weather. UNT and Texas Southern were scheduled to play in Houston this past Sunday but rain and lightning forced the game to be canceled for the time being. The last game the Mean Green played was a 2-0 win at Houston Baptist on Friday, Sept. 7.
