DENTON — The Mean Green soccer team's Oct. 26 home match versus Rice has been rescheduled to Oct. 5 at 7 p.m. The match will remain in Denton.
The two schools that tied in their matchup last season and were picked to finish first and second in the Conference USA preseason poll were originally slated to play in this year's regular season finale. However, Hurricane Florence this past week forced North Texas to reschedule a road match with Old Dominion to Oct. 28 and forced Rice to postpone a match at Charlotte to that same weekend.
Oct. 5 will be a busy day for North Texas athletics. The UNT volleyball team is hosting Florida Atlantic at the same time and parking to either the soccer or volleyball match is expected to be limited.
Due to the change in schedule, the soccer team's senior day has been moved as well. The Mean Green will honor their six seniors on Sunday Oct. 21 at 1 p.m. versus Florida International in what is now the final home match of the season.
After having their last two matches postponed because of severe weather, North Texas is finally back to playing soccer as they travel to Southern Miss on Thursday for a 4 p.m. match in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
