Women's Basketball Signs Post Player

DENTON - North Texas women's basketball coach Jalie Mitchell announced on Sunday the signing of post player Tommisha Lampkin, who will join the program for the 2020-21 season.
After signing a heralded class last year that was comprised of six players, there were fewer holes to fill this year with so much youth already in the program, but Mitchell said she is excited to add the post from Mansfield Summit High School and pair her with the program's other early signee, shooting guard Maddie Cleary (Prosper HS).
"Tommisha Lampkin is a skilled post whose best days are ahead of her," UNT head coach Jalie Mitchell said. "Although she has accomplished so much already, the next level brings a new challenge we believe she will be ready to conquer. Misha wears a smile that makes everyone a fan. We are excited that she has chosen to join our family! The tools and resources she will receive here at UNT will take her game and her dreams to new heights! Get ready, Mean Green!"
Lampkin, a 6-2 inside presence, was the 2019 District 7-6A Offensive Player of the Year as a junior and was also a Texas Association of Basketball Coaches Class 6A Region I all-region selection. As a sophomore, Lampkin was a Class 5A all-state selection by TABC and was a first-team selection on the Star-Telegram's all area team. She was one of the few players in the Dallas-Fort Worth area to average a double-double, according to The Dallas Morning News, averaging 17.5 points and 10.8 rebounds per game. The Dallas Morning News also named her their No. 13 ranked recruit in DFW. She's ranked as the 19th best post in the nation, according to ESPN.
