Two Seniors Named To C-USA All-Academic Team

IRVING – North Texas senior swimmers Meaghan Rousset and Brittany Thurstin have been named to the 2019 Conference USA All-Academic team, selected by a vote of the league's academic advisors.
The Mean Green and Rice are the only schools with multiple honorees at two each, while Rousset is one of only two members to repeat from 2018. Rousset is a three-time Conference USA Commissioner's List Honor Roll and Commissioner's Academic Medal recipient. She also appeared on the North Texas 2017-18 President's List for achieving a perfect GPA. She was part of the 200-yard medley relay team that beat TCU with a time of 1:46.38, and she won the 100-yard breastroke against TCU in 1:04.50.Â
"Brittany and Meaghan have been so influential to our team," head coach Brittany Roth said. "Our team has a history of excelling in the classroom. It's indicative of these girl's commitment. Each has left her mark on our program."
Thurstin is a three-time Conference USA Commissioner's List Honor Roll and Commissioner's Academic Medal recipient. She has also appeared on the North Texas Dean's List consecutive years. Thurstin has posted three of the five fastest 50 freestyle times in program history.
Rousset is pursuing medical school while Thurstin will graduate with an engineering degree. Both will be in action at this weekend's C-USA swimming and diving championship.
