Sanders Claims C-USA Honor

IRVING – North Texas senior Jordan Sanders was named the Conference USA Golfer of the Week, as announced by the conference on Wednesday.
Sanders gets the nod – the first of his career – after a stellar showing at the N.I.T. in Tucson, Arizona, Monday and Tuesday. The senior from Cedar Park, Texas, finished fourth in the field of 84 golfers and finished ahead of 12 of the 14 golfers who entered the tournament ranked in the top 100 by GolfStat. One of those golfers Sanders beat was No. 8 Chun An Yu of Arizona State.
Sanders was one of just two golfers in the field – the other being the individual champion – to fire all three rounds in the 60s. Over the course of the three rounds, he had 17 birdies to go with just three bogeys and a double-bogey en route to a 67-68-69-204. The 67 tied his career low, which was matched in the fall at the Trinity Forest Invitational in Dallas.
"I'm happy for Jordan to be honored by Conference USA as the player of the week," UNT coach Brad Stracke said. "Jordan works hard on his game, and it's nice to see him get rewarded for his efforts."
The award is the second for the program this year, as Sanders joins fellow senior Thomas Rosenmueller, who won the award in September after winning the Trinity Forest Invitational.
