Mean Green Add Local Product

DENTON — The seven-time Conference USA champion Mean Green soccer team has added local product and incoming freshman Joniyah Binder to its team.
Binder, a forward, currently attends Denton Ryan High School where she has scored eight goals in the regular season this year and assisted on two. At Ryan, she plays for North Texas Athletic Hall of Famer Kendall Juett.
Binder is the 10th member of the Mean Green's large and prolific incoming freshman class.
Local prep players have seen lots of success playing for North Texas. Carissa Sanders, a 2015 Ryan graduate, just completed her four-year career with the Mean Green that included being a four-year starter, team captain, 2018 C-USA Tournament Defensive MVP and all-conference selections.
Head coach John Hedlund said he is excited to have Binder's speed and shooting ability as someone who can score with either foot.
Binder isn't the only Denton product to be headed to North Texas this summer to play for Hedlund and the Mean Green. She is joined by Denton Guyer High School's Taylor Hunter who signed in late November.
The Mean Green begin their 25th season next fall and will do so in their brand new soccer facility.
