Kononova Named C-USA All-Academic

DALLAS —North Texas tennis senior Maria Kononova was named to the six-player 2019 InTouch Credit Union Conference USA Women's Tennis All-Academic team on Tuesday afternoon.
Kononova, the program's all-time winningest player who will likely finish this season top three in wins in C-USA for a third straight year, has posted a 4.0 grade point average while working towards her Master of Business Administration. Kononova, who earned her Bachelor's degree Magna Cum Laude last year as a junior, has earned not just a ton of athletic awards in her almost four full years at UNT but academic too.
Kononova has made the President's List four times and been named a International Tennis Association All-Academic Scholar-Athlete three times with a chance for a fourth time later this spring. She's been a C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll student and recipient of the Commissioner's Academic Medal every year at UNT.
Kononova and the Mean Green begin their C-USA Tournament run on Thursday at 3 p.m. versus UAB in the first round.
