UNT Hall Of Famer Dwain Bean Dies

DENTON - Dwain Bean, a member of the North Texas Athletics Hall of Fame, died Saturday, April 27. He was 77 years old.
Bean was born in Beaumont, Texas, and was a running back on the North Texas football team, leading the Missouri Valley Conference in rushing in 1962 and 1963. After his graduation in 1964, he was selected in the 12th round of the NFL Draft by the Green Bay Packers. He played in the Canadian Football League.
In 1972, he became a teacher, golf coach and assistant football coach at Denton High School. He retired in 2000, with 18 golf district titles to his credit.
Bean was inducted into the North Texas Athletics Hall of Fame in 1997 and the Tyler Junior College Circle of Honor in 1998.
Bean is survived by his wife of 55 years, Amanda; son Russell Bean, his wife Margo and their children Stephen and Matthew; and daughter Michelle Bean Bridges, her husband Sam, and their children Samantha and Mitchell.
