Men's Golf Opening Schedule At Trinity Forest

The North Texas men's golf team opens its season in the Metroplex by traveling down the road to Dallas to play in SMU's tournament at the Mustangs' home course.
THE EVENT: Trinity Forest will play at 7,486 yards, and will be a par-71 course for the tournament. The three-day event begins Sunday and ends Tuesday with each day's action getting underway at 8 a.m.
THE FIELD: There are 17 teams participating in the tournament: Abilene Christian, Arkansas-Little Rock, Arizona State, Ball State, College of Charleston, Denver, Houston, Kansas State, Marquette, Mississippi State, North Texas, Rice, Sam Houston State, SMU, UC Davis, UT San Antonio and Virginia.
REPRESENTING UNT: Competing for the Mean Green will be freshman Zak Karkaletsos, freshman Cameron Harlock, junior Viktor Forslund, redshirt junior Kristof Ulenaers and sophomore Lenny Bergsson.
RESULTS: Live results will be posted on GolfStat.com. Full recaps from each day of competition will be posted on MeanGreenSports.com at the end of each round.
LAST TIME OUT: North Texas finished eighth at the Conference USA Championship in Texarkana, Texas, to round out the 2018-19 season. Two players, Viktor Forslund and Lenny Bergsson, rounded out the season with strong showings, finishing tied for seventh and 17th, respectively.
INTERNATIONAL FLAVOR: The Mean Green feature seven international players this year, including some key freshmen who are expected to contribute immediately. Lenny Bergsson (Iceland), Viktor Forslund (Sweden), Cameron Harlock (New Zealand), Zak Karkaletsos (Spain), Alejandro Madariaga (Mexico), Hiroki Miya (New Zealand) and Kristof Ulenaers (Belgium) round out the international players.
ROSENMUELLER'S RECORD: Last year at the Trinity Forest Invitational, then-senior Thomas Rosenmueller won the individual title for the Mean Green by shooting a tournament record 13-under-par 200.
STRACKE SAYS: "We're looking forward to starting our fall season out at Trinity Forest. We have a talented, young, hard working group this year. It's going to be a fun year."
UP NEXT: North Texas will have a quick turnaround and hit the road next week to Albuquerque, N.M., to play in The Tucker on Sept. 27-28.
HOME SWEET MARIDOE: North Texas enjoys its home course - the Maridoe Golf Club in Carrollton. The course opened to members in July 2017 and gives the Mean Green a state-of-the-art home course with world-class facilities, including a fully-dedicated practice facility, complete with a two-ended driving range to account for many varying wind conditions, a sprawling three-acre short game retreat and indoor facilities with state-of-the-art hitting bays.
