DENTON – The UNT men's golf teams will begin its spring schedule Monday, as the Mean Green are set to begin play at the Southwestern Invitational in West Lake Village, California after a near-three-month hiatus since their last tournament, when they finished 13th at the Ka'anapali Classic Collegiate Invitational.
The Mean Green fielded a young team in the fall that featured three freshmen seeing significant action, and will look to their experienced leaders in junior Viktor Forslund, redshirt junior Kristof Ulenaers and sophomore Lenny Bergsson to help lead the way this spring while their freshmen look to improve on their fall performances.
"The team has worked hard during the offseason and has improved a lot since August," UNT men's coach Brad Stracke said. "This will be our first time playing in the Southwestern Invitational at the North Ranch course. It's going to be interesting to see how we perform so early in the spring season."
After the Southwestern Invitational, the Mean Green will travel to the Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate in Palm Desert, California in late February before return trips to the Louisiana Classics, The Hayt Invitational and the Aggie Invitational. They will then compete in the Bayou Classic in Houston in mid-April before the Conference USA Championship in Texarkana, Texas, April 27-30.
