DENTON - In an ongoing series, members of the UNT men's golf team will tell fans a bit about themselves, answering some questions about golf and some about off-the-wall topics. This week, we have redshirt senior Sean Wilcox, who talks about his returning home after beginning his career as a Tennessee Volunteer and to whom he dedicates his golf game.

Q: How old were you when you started playing golf?
A: I started when I was 3, but started playing in tournaments when I was 4.
Q: Why were you initially interested in playing golf?
A: Because of my parents. My mom was actually really good growing up, so I started because of them.
Q: Why did you keep playing golf? Was it just a matter of realizing you were pretty good or was it something more than that?
A: Honestly, it was just because I liked being out on the golf course.
Q: What is your favorite thing about the game?
A: Getting to meet so many people and travel all around the country.
Q: What is your favorite club in your bag?
A: My putter, 100%.
Q: Who has been your biggest inspiration through the years?
A: My (maternal) grandpa and my dad. My grandpa wanted to see me play in college but never got the chance to. So I would say I've been trying to play my best for him.

Q: Did you grow up playing any other sports, and what was your favorite aside from golf?
A: I grew up playing baseball because of my dad. Baseball was definitely my favorite sport growing up besides golf, but now I enjoy hockey a lot more.
Q: To whom do you attribute your athletic ability?
A: My dad and mom. My dad played baseball in college (at Central Florida), and his dad played in MLB, so I had an athletic side. My mom was great at golf in high school, so I took after her.
Q: What is the best course you've ever played?
A: I would say either Riviera in Los Angeles or Congaree in South Carolina.
Q: Do you have a nickname? And how did you get it?
A: No nickname unfortunately, but most people just call me Wilcox.
Q: What is your favorite golf memory?
A: Either shooting a 62 during a tournament or winning the state championship my junior year.

Q: What is your favorite hobby when you're not playing golf?
A: Fishing and watching hockey. I have gotten big into hockey the past couple of years, so I love watching it.
Q: Why did you choose UNT?
A: I wanted to be closer to home, but also, when I talked to coach Stracke, I knew he could get me to the next level to be able to play professionally.

Q: If you could have dinner with three people - dead or alive - who would it be?
A: Tiger Woods, Jimmy Fallon and my grandpa.

Q: What is the best movie ever made?
A: "The Greatest Game Ever Played" or "Hacksaw Ridge."
Q: How long did it take you to watch Tiger King?
A: A lot longer than it should have. Hahaha. I lost interest after a while and finished it later in the summer.
Q: What is your favorite TV show on Netflix?
A: Ozark, for sure.

Q: Are you a dog or cat person? Do you have any pets?
A: Dogs all day. I have two, and their names are Bogey and Divot.
Q: Who is your favorite band or musician?
A: Either Rascal Flatts, Thomas Rhett or Travis Scott.
Q: Who on the team has the best taste in music aside from yourself? Who has the worst?
A: I haven't heard a ton of the guys' music yet, but I'd say probably Viktor has the best. The worst is 100% Robert (Sorry, Rob).
Q: What is your favorite food?
A: Mexican, due to my love of queso.
Q: If you were going to get a free dinner at any restaurant, where would you pick and why?
A: Probably a Japanese hibachi restaurant because of the amount of food you get.
Q: You can take three things with you to a deserted island. What are you taking?
A: My golf bag, a speaker for music and my Xbox. I'd be set for a while if I had those three things.
Q: You have one day left on Earth. What's your last meal?
A: My dad's steak. Best steak I've ever had.
Q: Favorite type of dessert?
A: I love everything. I can't pick just one, but ice cream is a frontrunner.
Q: Which of your teammates' home countries would you most like to visit and why?
A: Lenny because I've always wanted to go to Iceland.
