STILLWATER, Okla. – Erika Barrett ran a 6K personal best in 23:17.0 as the top women's finisher for North Texas at the Cowboy Jamboree hosted by Oklahoma State Saturday.
"It was a solid performance today," head coach Kevin Williams said. "Both teams had a good 1-5 runner spread, but we need to be more aggressive in a big meet like this."
Jack Beaumont came in first for the Mean Green men in the 35th spot in the 8K in 25:35.4 as UNT took fifth place in the 13-team field. Braden Lange was 39th in 25:43.6 followed by Caleb Bouchard at 25:44.6. Matthew Morgan ran a 25:50.5 for 43rd while Logan Mitchell made his North Texas debut with a time of 25:58.3 for 49th.
Alec Esposito returned to competition and clocked a 26:03.1 in 57th, Spencer Boykin was 61st in 26:10.1, and Mason Garner came in 82nd at 26:43.1. Freshmen Luke Canon (112th) and David Aguilar (115th) were timed at 27:57.1 and 28:05.8, respectively.
The Mean Green women concluded 11th amongst 14 teams, led by Barrett's 39th-place showing. Audrey Springer was 48th in a time of 23:29.0, and Katie Booth posted her best 6K time of 24:00.0 to finish 74th.

"Now we are off for a bit and can get back to work before conference," Williams said.
The Mean Green will compete at the Conference USA Championships October 31 hosted by UAB.
