NEWS AND NOTES
- Through Sunday, North Texas' 41.0 3-point field goal percentage is tied for the 12th best in the nation and best among C-USA schools. UNT is only one of four teams in the nation ranked in the top 15 in 3-point field goal percentage and in the top 100 in 2-point field goal percentage (52.9 percent, 90th in the nation). Baylor, Illinois and Saint Louis are the other schools.
- Â Former walk-on JJ Murray played 19 total minutes all of last year. In the last three games combined he's 60 minutes and at No. 11 WVU and versus HBU he recorded more minutes in those games than he did in all of last season's games combined. Murray was surprised with a scholarship by McCasland on Aug. 27 after two years of being a walk-on.
- In the two games combined last week newcomer Terence Lewis II (aka
"T2") only played 29 total minutes but he scored 23 points on 10-of-12 (.833) shooting. He also had 11 rebounds, 4 steals and 4 assists to go along with his scoring. His combined .833 field goal percentage was second-best last week among C-USA players who attempted 10 or more shots. - If senior Zachary Simmons starts on Tuesday it will be his 100th career start. Simmons enters Tuesday having made 77 straight starts.
- Since the program's inception in 2014-15, LSUA is the winningest program in the state of Louisiana with a record of 177-29 and a winning percentage of 85.9.
- LSUA is 2-11 against DI teams with wins coming against Southeastern Louisiana and Northwestern State in 2015. The win against SLU was made even more special due to the fact that Larry Cordaro came to LSUA from SLU where he was an assistant. Tuesday is the third consecutive contest against a Division I opponent for the Generals, falling 97-79 to Stephen F. Austin on Dec. 6 and 90-75 to UL Lafayette on Dec. 8. Prior to that LSUA hadn't played a DI opponent since Nov. 26, 2016, which was an 80-78 loss at McNeese.
- The Generals have qualified for the NAIA tournament in all six years of the program's existence. They made it to the championship game in 2018 before falling to Graceland (IA) in overtime.
- LSUA has captured either the Red River Athletic Conference regular season or tournament title (or both) every year in program history. They won the regular season title last year before falling to Texas A&M-Texarkana in the semifinals of the conference tournament.
