Starkville, Mississippi — North Texas will aim for an early road non-conference victory as they travel to Starkville, Mississippi, on Friday for its first meeting with the Mississippi State Bulldogs (1-2) since 2011. UNT (1-1) won its season-opener on Nov. 26, 116-62, over Mississippi Valley State by making a program-record 21 3-pointers. The 21 makes from distance are the most 3-pointers made by any DI team in the nation since Alabama made 22 against Auburn on Feb. 12, 2020, of last season.

This will be the third all-time meeting between North Texas and Mississippi State. UNT has never beaten the Bulldogs. They last play MSU in 2011 when the Bulldogs were ranked No. 24 in the nation.
Mean Green head coach Grant McCasland is one win shy of moving into sixth-place in all-time North Texas coaching wins with 63.
North Texas is aiming for its first victory over an SEC opponent since Dec. 31, 2013 when the Mean Green went to Texas A&M and won 61-41.
North Texas' newcomer Terence Lewis II scored a team-high 12 points last week at Arkansas in just 15 minutes of game action.
As of Monday, UNT freshman Abou Ousmane has lost 23 pounds since he arrived on campus in July.
