North Texas is hitting the road for the longest trip away from home of the young 2020 season. The Mean Green (8-1) will travel south on I-35 to take on No. 3 Texas in Austin on Wednesday before traveling further down in Texas to Corpus Christi to compete in the Islander Invitational at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

The Mean Green are meeting up with the Longhorns (10-0) for the 27th time in program history. Texas holds a 16-10 advantage and has won the previous six matchups. The last North Texas win came on May 4, 2011 in Denton when the Mean Green took down the Longhorns 3-2.

North Texas' pitching staff will be challenged as the Longhorns offense has posted a .432 team batting average, .700 slugging percentage and have scored 100 runs on 108 hits through their first ten games. The Mean Green staff currently ranks first in Conference USA and 11th in the Nation with a team ERA of 1.03. Both junior Hope Trautwein and sophomore Bailey Tindell rank in the top-5 for individual ERA in Conference USA.

The matchup will happen at 4:30 p.m. CT but will not be aired on Longhorn Network live. The game will be tape delayed and aired at 9 p.m. CT. However, fans can follow @MeanGreenSB on twitter and MeanGreenStats.com for live updates throughout the game.

The Mean Green will then head even more south for the Islander Classic at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi over the weekend. North Texas will matchup with the host Islanders (3-6) and Texas Southern (2-7).

North Texas currently holds a 7-4 advantage over the Islanders and a 2-0 advantage over the Lady Tigers. The Mean Green last met Texas A&M-Corpus Christi on Feb. 11 2012 when the Islanders took a 7-4 win in Houston. North Texas and Texas Southern last met on Mar. 28, 2018 when the Mean Green blanked the Lady Tigers 7-0 behind a four inning scoreless performance by then-freshman Hope Trautwein.

The Mean Green will take on Texas Southern at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 21 and 1 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22 and take on Texas A&M-Corpus Christi at 1 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 21 and 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22.
