Men's Golf Heading To Desert

The North Texas men's golf team returns to action in California after playing in the Golden State last month at Pepperdine's tournament.
THE EVENT: The Classic Club will play at 7,305 yards, and will be a par-72 course for the tournament. The three-day event begins Friday with and concludes Sunday with one round per day. There will be a tee times beginning at 9 a.m., on all three days from Holes 1 and 10.
THE FIELD: There are 21 teams participating in the tournament: No. 19 Auburn, Boise State, Cal State Northridge, No. 50 Charlotte, Colorado, No. 5 Colorado State, Denver, Florida Atlantic, Fresno State, New Mexico State, North Texas, Oregon, San Diego, Seattle, South Dakota State, Southern Utah, TCU, UC Riverside, UC Santa Barbara, UT Arlington, Wyoming.
REPRESENTING UNT: Competing for the Mean Green will be Viktor Forslund, Kristof Ulenaers, Hiroki Miya, Cameron Harlock and Alejandro Madariaga.
RESULTS: Live results will be posted on GolfStat.com. Full recaps from each day of competition will be posted on MeanGreenSports.com at the end of each day's play.
LAST TIME OUT: North Texas finished 10th at the Southwestern Invitational last month. The Mean Green were led by freshman Zak Karkaletsos, who tied for 33rd at 7-over par.
INTERNATIONAL FLAVOR: The Mean Green feature seven international players this year, including some key freshmen who are expected to contribute immediately. Lenny Bergsson (Iceland), Viktor Forslund (Sweden), Cameron Harlock (New Zealand), Zak Karkaletsos (Spain), Alejandro Madariaga (Mexico), Hiroki Miya (New Zealand) and Kristof Ulenaers (Belgium) round out the international players.
STRACKE SAYS: "We will be playing at The Classic Club for the first time," UNT head coach Brad Stracke said. "We're looking forward to some good weather and hopefully some great golf."
UP NEXT: The Mean Green will take a few weeks off before returning to action in Lafayette, Louisiana, to play in the Louisiana Classics on March 16-17.
HOME SWEET MARIDOE: North Texas enjoys its home course - the Maridoe Golf Club in Carrollton. The course opened to members in July 2017 and gives the Mean Green a state-of-the-art home course with world-class facilities, including a fully-dedicated practice facility, complete with a two-ended driving range to account for many varying wind conditions, a sprawling three-acre short game retreat and indoor facilities with state-of-the-art hitting bays that provide tools the program has not yet had at its disposal.
