MIAMI — The first place Mean Green men's basketball team is taking on fellow top-pod team Florida International in Miami on Thursday at 6 p.m. CT. The game will be broadcasted on Stadium on Facebook and the Mean Green Sports Network (95.3 KHYI) or on the tuneIN app.
UNT (18-10, 12-3 C-USA) is on a two-game winning streak over the Panthers (17-10, 8-6 C-USA) and have held their explosive offense to under 60 points in each of the two wins. They beat FIU 74-56 in Denton on Jan. 9. Four Mean Green players scored in double figures. Javion Hamlet led the team with 16. Hamlet has been on an offensive tear the last two games. He scored a combined 52 points in UNT's last two games. His 52 points scored are tied with UT San Antonio's Jhivvan Jackson for most points scored in C-USA over the past two games. As of Wednesday, Jackson is the nation's second leading scorer.

North Texas' 12 conference wins are the most they've had since they won 13 during the 2009-10 season in the Sun Belt Conference. In 2009-10, UNT won the SBC Tournament and it was the last time the Mean Green made the NCAA Tournament. From the 2006-07 season through the 2009- 10 season, UNT won at least 10 conference games all four years and averaged 11 conference wins a year. Johnny Jones was the head coach.
