MGSD Finishes Day Two of C-USA Championships

ATLANTA – Led by an A-Final appearance in the three-meter diving event, the North Texas swimming and diving team continued action at the Conference USA Swimming and Diving Championships on Thursday.

The Mean Green ended the day in sixth place behind Marshall by just half a point, defending champion FIU holds a solid first-place lead at 337 points.

"Meghan [Miller] did well leading the way into the finals of the three meter and finishing eighth overall," diving coach Mark Murdock said. "She put together good lists and stayed focused through some tough competition. I'm very proud of how we've started this week and hope to keep this vibe going."

Miller finished with a score of 254.70, Gabryella Silva, Saylor Hawkins and Brigid Krbec all found their way into the B-Final with scores of 241.80, 233.35 and 195.60 respectively. Finishing 11, 14 and 16.

The Mean Green swimmers did not find any podiums in the four events on the day but had strong showings in B-Finals to score some points for North Texas.

"Today was a day full of fight and battling," head coach Brittany Roth said. "We are in a fight for conference standings and our team put together some key performances. I'm looking forward to the events to come."

Leigh Faires McGee finished third in the B-Final of the 500-Yard Freestyle with a time of 4:59.06 followed by London Farris in sixth with a time of 5:01.10 and Karigan Stanley in eighth with a time of 5:04.97.

Action will continue on Friday with finals for the 400-Yard IM, 100-Yard Butterfly, 200-Yard Freestyle, 100-Yard Breaststroke, 100-Yard Backstroke, 1-Meter Diving and 400-Yard Medley Relay. Prelims get underway in the morning at 10:30 a.m. ET with finals action getting underway at 6 p.m. ET.
