MGSD Moves Up The Rankings on Day Three

ATLANTA – North Texas swimming and diving completed action at the 2020 Conference USA Championships on Friday, the Mean Green sit in fifth place going into the final day of competition on Saturday.

Friday's results saw one North Texas swimmer in an A-Final, 11 in a B-Final and five divers in the field of eight for the B-Final in the One-Meter Dive.

The divers saw three personal bests be set during the one-meter prelims, Gabryella Silva, Brigid Krbec and Altaira Wallquist. Saylor Hawkins set a personal best with a score of 257.00 in the B-Final which landed her a second place finish.

Meghan Miller led the way with a first place finish in the B-Final with a score of 261.35 followed by Hawkins, the Silva in fifth with a score of 236.20, Wallquist in seventh with a score of 236.20 and Krbec in eighth with a score of 206.35.

Jowita Sienczyk finished just off the podium in fourth place in the 100 Yard Backstroke A-Final. The senior posted a time of 54.73, only .4 of a second off the podium.

Finals action started off with Karigan Stanley, Jordan Gorham and Brianna Hanley taking part in the B-Final of the 400 Yard IM. Stanley finished third in the event with a time of 4:31.77, Gorham finished sixth with a time of 4:32.72 and Hanley finished eighth with a time of 4:34.53.

Robyn Lee picked up an eighth place finish in the B-Final of the 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 56.51, Leigh Faires McGee and London Farris went 1-2 in the B-Final of the 200 Yard Freestyle with time of 1:49.60 and 1:49.96 respectively, Bryanna Vasquez finished fourth in the event with a time of 1:51.56 while Alvena Walpole came in sixth with a time of 1:52.51.

Jenny Holwell, Ula Michalczyk and Brooke Beddingfield all took part in the B-final of the 100 Yard Breaststroke with finished of second, fourth and eighth respectively and time of 1:04.37, 1:04.60 and 1:05.96.

North Texas closed the day with a fourth place finish in the 400 Yard Medley relay. The Mean Green go into the final day of competition 7.5 points behind Marshall for fourth place.
