DENTON — The North Texas men's basketball team clinched its first regular season league title in 31 years on March 1 when they beat Western Kentucky 78-72 in overtime.

When head coach Grant McCasland was hired to UNT in 2017 he promised the team and fans that the Mean Green would be cutting down nets. Now after completing his third year at North Texas, they've cut down nets twice, once after winning the 2018 CBI championship and on March 1. Both games happened at the Super Pit.
