Junior Meghan Miller Breaks North Texas Platform Diving Record at Conference USA Championships
North Texas alumna Jasmine Abercrombie set the North Texas platform diving record with a score of 207.65 on February 27, 2016. That record stood for exactly three years and two days before junior Meghan Miller took the platform during prelims of the 2020 Conference USA Championships.
Miller, who was only diving off a platform for the third time in competition during the 2019-2020 season had posted season-high scores of 153.95 and 182.90 in the two previous platform championships during the season. Her personal best going into the 2020 conference championships had been set during the 2018 session when she scored a 197.75 as a freshman, a score that has sat in the top-5 all time for two whole seasons.
When she completed her prelim round in Atlanta on February 29, 2020, she had jumped over Abercrombie with a score of 208.65 and put her name at the top of the North Texas record book for the first time in her career. The dive was the only school record that fell during the 2019-2020 season and sets Miller up for a chase of all three diving records going into her senior season.
The record was the 16th to fall during head coach Brittany Roth's tenure at North Texas, and ninth since becoming the full-time head coach on April 11, 2017.
I was really proud of how all the diver's performed during platform, especially with Meghan leading the way with the new school record.North Texas Diving Coach Mark Murdock
