Swim and Dive Finalizes 2020 Signing Class

DENTON – North Texas swimming and diving coach Brittany Roth has officially finalized the signing class that will join the Mean Green for the 2020-2021 season.

The Mean Green added six new student-athletes with the 2020 class, five by signings and one walk on. The class includes three student-athletes from the state of Texas while the other half hails from outside of the United States.

Sophia Bernal - Katy, Texas
Diana Kolb - Austin, Texas
Madeleine Nguyen - Austin, Texas (walk-on)
Tram Nguyen - Ottawa, Ontario
Alexandra Szolnoki - Debrecen, Hungary
Izabela Zekuciova - Drmoul, Czech Republic
North Texas kicked off the 2020 class with the signing of Tram Nguyen on November 18, 2019. Nguyen hails from Ottawa, Ontario in Canada and joins the Mean Green after swimming for the Nepean Kanata Barracudas aquatic club. Diana Kolb would be the second member of the class, officially joining on January 9, 2020. Kolb hails from Austin and joins the Mean Green after swimming for Ambush Swimming.

Alexandra Szolnoki would be the third member of the 2020 class, signing her NLI on April 20, 2020. The Debrecen, Hungary native joins the Mean Green after swimming competitively in her home country. North Texas would add another Texan with the singing of Sophia Bernal on April 22, 2020. Bernal hails from Katy and joins the Mean Green after swimming for Cinco Ranch High School.

The Mean Green's final signee came in the form of Izabela Zekuciova from Drmoul, Czech Republic, Zekuciova finished off the signing class on May 11, 2020. North Texas would add one walk-on on May 12, 2020 in the form of Madeleine Nguyen, who hails from Austin.

The six new members will be joining the Mean Green in the fall as the team preps for the 2020-2021 season. North Texas is coming off of a fifth-place finish at the Conference USA Championships back in February of this year.
