Stracke Adds Argentine Signee

DENTON – UNT men's golf coach Brad Stracke added a signee for the 2020-21 season on Thursday, when Diego Prone signed his national letter of intent.
Prone, who hails from Buenos Aires, Argentina, will join the Mean Green after a successful year of tournaments both in Argentina and the United States, as he spent the past year at the IMG Academy in Florida.
Some of Prone's top showings from 2019 include a seventh-place finish at the Doral-Publix Junior Classic in Florida, an 11th-place finish at the Torneo Internacional Copa Juan Carlos Tailhade in Argentina and an eighth-place showing weeks before at the Campeonato Argentino de Menores. In May 2019, Prone also won the AJGA Preview at Chateau Elan Golf Club in Georgia.
"(Assistant coach) James (Vargas) and I are excited to have signed Diego Prone," Stracke said. "Diego has been at the IMG Academy this past year. He has won an AJGA event and competed well against the top amateurs in Argentina. I'm looking forward to Diego joining us this fall."
Prone is the third golfer to sign with UNT ahead of the 2020-21 season after Stracke inked South Africa's Nikhil Gopal and Argentina's Vicente Marzilio back in November.
