Men's Basketball Volunteers On NT Giving Day

DENTON — The North Texas men's basketball volunteered with the Salvation Army of North Texas in Denton on Thursday for North Texas Giving Day.
North Texas Giving Day is an 18-hour online giving event designed to empower every person to give back to their community by supporting local nonprofits and causes they care about in one easy-to-use platform.
The event helps build awareness and support for nonprofits. In 2019, $50 million was raised through 102,000 donors benefiting 3,000 local nonprofits, bringing the eleven-year total to over $290 million for our community. North Texas Giving Day is the largest community-wide giving event in the nation.
Since its inception in 2009, this online event has transformed from an idea to help local people give wisely, to a movement that has ignited a broad culture of community-wide giving.
On Thursday the Mean Green assisted the Salvation Army in Denton by organizing and preparing for a yard sale that will be held in the coming month. Hundreds of donated items were moved by the basketball team from a storage and into a church and then categorized.
