DENTON - In an ongoing series, members of the UNT men's golf team will tell fans a bit about themselves, answering some questions about golf and some about off-the-wall topics. This week, we have freshman Diego Prone, who tells us about some other sports he's good at. As an Argentine, one won't surprise you. Another might.

Q: How old were you when you started playing golf?
A: I was about 2 or 3 years old when I started playing golf.
Q: Why were you initially interested in playing golf?
A: I was interested because my father used to play and he bought me a set of toy clubs..
Q: Why did you keep playing golf? Was it just a matter of realizing you were pretty good or was it something more than that?
A: I kept on playing because I was fairly good and also because I liked it and wanted to improve my game.
Q: What is your favorite thing about the game?
A: Competing with other guys and friends and just playing out at the course.
Q: What is your favorite club in your bag?
A: My putter.
Q: Who has been your biggest inspiration through the years?
A: I think the PGA Tour players because they play really well and that motivates people to play and improve.
Q: Why did you decide to leave Argentina and go to IMG Academy in Florida for your final semester of high school?
A: I did it to prepare to study in college. I thought that could help the golf part and also the studies.

Q: Did you grow up playing any other sports, and what was your favorite aside from golf?
A: I like sports, in general, and I like playing soccer, tennis and table tennis. My favorite aside from golf is soccer, but I'm pretty good at table tennis, too.
Q: To whom do you attribute your athletic ability?
A: My father was good at sports when he was young, and he could have been a good soccer player if he had lived in another place.

A: My favorite golf memory is when I won my first golf tournament.
Q: What is the best course you've ever played?
A: I think it is PGA National, Champion Course.

A: No, not a nickname in particular. But some people still call me “Dieguito,” as if I were still a child.

Q: What is your favorite hobby when you're not playing golf?
A: I love watching TV series.
Q: Why did you choose UNT?
