Bell Voted Preseason All-Conference

DALLAS — North Texas men's basketball fifth-year senior Thomas Bell on Thursday was announced C-USA Men's Basketball Preseason All-Conference.
As voted on by the league's 14 head coaches, Bell was one of 11 to make the all-conference honor.
Since he arrived to UNT in the summer of 2019, Bell has been a critical piece to the Mean Green's back-to-back C-USA championships and last season's NCAA Tournament upset over fourth-seeded Purdue. The stretch four has impacted winning all over the court. Last year, Bell played in and started every game for UNT. He did everything on the floor. He led the team in blocks, was second in rebounds and third in scoring, 3-pointers and steals. Bell was a matchup nightmare for opponents as he can defend every position.
Bell scored 16 points in the Mean Green's 2021 NCAA Tournament win and had two key blocks in the game. In the 2021 C-USA Tournament, Bell made his first seven 3-point attempts. In the championship game with 2:30 left in the game, Bell made a crucial 3-pointer to give his team the lead, which they'd never give up. Bell shot 67 percent from two-point range a year ago, which was one of the best in the nation.
He finished the year averaging more than 10 points and five rebounds per game.
A junior college product. Bell in 2019-20 was a dynamic piece off the bench for the Mean Green in their run for their first regular season league title in 31 years. That season, Bell led the team in rebounds while never starting a game. He was just one of two players in the nation that could say that. In the 2020 championship clinching win, Bell dropped 20 points to beat WKU and win the league title.
The 2021-22 campaign tips off Tuesday, Nov. 9 when the Mean Green host Oklahoma Christian and culminates in the 2022 Conference USA Basketball Championships March 8-12 at Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas. The men's final is scheduled for Saturday, March 12, to be broadcast on CBS Sports Network.
