Swim and Dive takes home two honors after 179-118 win
DENTON, Texas — North Texas diver Saylor Hawkins has been named Conference USA Co-Diver of the week for the third time this season, and swimmer Diana Kolb received the Co-Swimmer of the Week honor, the conference office announced Wednesday.
Hawkins, a junior from Plymouth, Minnesota, won both the 1 Meter (279.53) and 3 Meter (301.58) during Saturday's meet against New Mexico State. Her performance on the 3 Meter was also a career high and was less than three points shy of breaking the school record. She is the first UNT diver to win the award three times in a season since joining Conference USA and the first to win a conference weekly award three times in a single season since Catherine Johnson in 2011-12.
Kolb, a sophomore from Lufkin, Texas, won the 100 Backstroke (58.39), the 200 Backstroke (2:06.95) and was the first leg of the winning 400 Medley Relay with a 58.41 split. This is her first Swimmer of the Week accolade and the first for the program since the 2018-19 season.Â
This is the sixth diver of the week award for the Mean Green during head coach Brittany Roth's tenure and the third for diving coach Stephanie O'Callaghan. It is the third swimmer of the week award since Roth took over in 2016-17.
UNT Swim and Dive will return to the pool at 10 a.m. Saturday for the Alumni Meet before heading north for the Kansas Classic from Nov. 18-21. Keep up with all the news at MeanGreenSports.com and follow @MeanGreenSwim on Twitter and @MeanGreenSwimDive on Instagram for up to the minute updates.
