Strong First Day At Mean Green Invite

DENTON — On the first day of the Mean Green Invite hosted by the UNT tennis team Friday. North Texas went 5-1 in singles and 2-1 in doubles against fellow Conference USA opponents UTEP and a pair of VCU opponents..
The Mean Green were led by sophomore Saki Oyama who won both her singles match and doubles match.
"I think the team atmosphere was very good today," Oyama said. "Also, we won lot of single and doubles matches. I felt a lot of support from friends and the fans. It was really helpful and I enjoyed this match, because of them. I hope we can keep in touch with them. I think I played really well today. So I'm looking forward to playing the match in the weekend."
The Mean Green Invite is the last fall tournament before the dual match season begins in January.
Saturday UNT will host Liberty at 3 p.m. CT. Following the match the Mean Green will host a kids clinic that is free.
