Morgan Named to C-USA All-Academic Team

DALLAS – North Texas senior Micayla Morgan has been named to the 2021 Conference USA All-Academic team, the league office announced Wednesday.

The All-Academic team consists of six student-athletes from the Conferences' six institutions that feature a women's swimming and/or diving program. Individuals must possess a 3.2 cumulative GPA in order to be eligible for nomination. Once nominated, school Academic Advisors vote on the team members.

Morgan carries a 3.85 GPA as a Biology major and was a member of the 2018, 2019 and 2020 Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Rolls and received the Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Medal in 2018 and 2020. In the water this season, the Plano native has posted a win in the 50 free in back-to-back duals with a 24.58 against Little Rock on February 6 and a 24.72 at Incarnate Word on January 15. Â Also at Incarnate Word she placed second in the 100 fly with a time of 57.78, all-in-all she has accounted for seven top-five finishes this season in limited competition.

She is the first North Texas swimmer or diver to be named to the All-Academic team since Meaghan Rousset and Brittany Thurstin received the honor in 2019, Rousset also was named to the 2018 All-Academic team.

The Mean Green start competition at the 2021 Conference USA Swimming and Diving Championships which begin tomorrow, February 25 in Atlanta Georgia. North Texas is looking to improve on a fifth-place team finish from a year ago after finishing at a program-best third place in 2019, Morgan is set to compete individually in the 50 free, 100 fly and 100 back.
