C-USA Championships Recap and Results - Updates

ATLANTA – Senior Leigh Faires McGee took home the silver medal in the 200 free and the Mean Green took bronze in the 800 free relay for the second consecutive year as they enter the final day of the Conference USA Championships in third place.
"I'm really proud of this teams' tenacity and their 'no quit' attitude," head coach Brittany Roth said. "It was a great day to be in the Mean Green Family!"
McGee wasted no time getting the Mean Green important points clocking a 1:48.17 to take second place in the 200 free, the medal is the first individual for the Jackson, Mississippi native since the 2019 championships during her sophomore season.Â
North Texas was also able to make it back-to-back bronze medals in the 800 free relay, as a McGee joined Bryanna Vasquez, Alvena Walpole and London Farris to clock a 7:24.76 and take home the medal for the second year in a row.
The Mean Green divers were able to claim spots 2-4 in the B final of 1m, securing 10th-13th place overall. Meghan Miller and Olivia Dollar were able to secure a spot in the A final and finish fourth and seventh respectively with Dollar setting a personal best score of 236.10.Â
"I'm very proud of all the divers, showing strength through the long competition and consistency through each list they compete with," diving coach Mark Murdock said.
North Texas enters the final day of competition currently tied for their best place in program history at third, finals competition will get underway at 5:30 p.m.
A trio in A-final appearances and a win in a B-final highlighted day one of the Conference USA Swimming and Diving Championships for North Texas.

Seniors Leigh Faires McGee (500 free) and Megan Miller (3m) both appeared in the A-final of their respective events while sophomore Saylor Hawkins joined Miller in the 3m A-Final. McGee, who had posted the fifth-best time in prelims of the 500 free finished sixth with a time of 4:58.05. Miller placed sixth in the 3m final with a score of 269.00 while Hawkins finished eighth with a score of 254.30.

"It was a really solid day for the team on day one of competition," head coach Brittany Roth said. "I was impressed with our teams' efforts today and their 'Today, Not Tomorrow' mentality coming into this meet."

Sophomore Olivia Dollar picked up a win in the 3m B-final with a score of 250.95, finishing ninth overall in the event. Junior Bryanna Vasquez also won the C-final of the 500 free with a time of 4:58.46.

"The divers did very well getting into scoring position," diving coach Mark Murdock said. "We had a very exciting first day and we're excited to see what tomorrow brings."
