Mean Green Comeback Falls Short

HUNTINGTON, West Virginia — The North Texas men's basketball team trailed by 14 points at Marshall Saturday with nine and a half minutes to go but rallied back to be within one-point and have the ball for the final possession.
However Javion Hamlet, who carried the Mean Green in their comeback, missed the would-be game winner as UNT fell 73-72 to the Thundering Herd and ended its four-game winning streak.
Hamlet finished with a game-high 28 points, He was six-of-seven from 3-point range and scored 22 in the second half.
"Give credit to Marshall," said head coach Grant McCasland. "They came to play and were the tougher team. They did the small things. We should have never been in that hole but weren't the tougher team."
UNT (13-7, 9-3) returns to the Super Pit next week to host UAB n Friday at 7 p.m. and again on Saturday at 4 p.m. It'll be the final games of the regular season before the Conference USA Tournament in Frisco.
