DENTON - The Mean Green tennis team suffered its first home loss of the year on Sunday afternoon when they fell to Wichita State, 4-0, at the Waranch Tennis Complex.

The Mean Green (2-6) won one of the three doubles matches, which was an impressive one. It was a 6-4 win for the team of Nidhi Surapaneni and Lucie Devier over the No. 23 nationally ranked doubles team.

But ultimately UNT dropped the doubles point before losing three singles matches to clinch the match for the Shockers (4-11).

Surapaneni dropped her opening set in her No. 3 singles match before taking the second set 6-3 and led the third set 5-1 with a 40-15 advantage when the match was clinched for Wichita State.

Kexuan Zhou was the only other UNT player to win a set in the singles competition, as she won the second set of her No. 5 singles match that went unfinished.

Up next
The Mean Green will play their second home match in as many days when they host Memphis at 3 p.m., Monday.
