DENTON – North Texas is set for the second Conference USA series of the 2021 season as they travel to El Paso to take on UTEP in a four-game weekend set. The Mean Green (20-9, 2-2 C-USA) and Miners (8-16, 3-5 C-USA) are meeting for the seventh all-time series between the two squads dating back to 2014. The two teams were unable to play in 2020 due to the COVID-19 season cancellation.
The Mean Green have won the last three matchups between the teams after a sweep of the series in Denton during the 2019 season. UTEP holds an all-time 6-3 advantage during games played in El Paso, North Texas has not won out west since 2014.Â

• Tayla Evans has made 99 starts for the Mean Green including 92-straight. Evans has appeared in 102 games in her North Texas career.
North Texas vs. UTEP
• The Mean Green and Miners are meeting for the seventh all-time series between the two programs dating back to 2014, North Texas holds an all-time advantage of 14-7 including three-straight wins.
• The two teams were unable to play their scheduled series in 2020 due to the COVID-19 season cancellation.Â
• This weekend will mark the fourth time that the two teams have met in El Paso, North Texas is 3-6 all-time on the toad against UTEP and have not won on the road since 2014.
• North Texas and UTEP squared off for the first time in 2005 in a matchup that UTEP won 1-0 in San Antonio on Feb. 13, 2005.
• The Miners enter the game after dropping three of four to UAB on the road to move to 3-5 in Conference play. UTEP is 6-10 at home this season.
• UTEP is led offensively by redshirt sophomore Idalis Mendez who leads Conference USA with both a .509 batting average and a .594 OBP. The pitching staff is led by sophomore Zaylie Calderon who leads the Miners with a 4.75 ERA over 41.2 IP.
• Second-year UTEP head coach T.J. Hubbard was the third head coach in North Texas history from 2007-2013 where he had a 161-161-1 record.
• Freshman Toni Gonzalez began her career in Denton.
