Men's Golf 2021-22 Schedule Announced

DENTON - After playing in just seven tournaments last year due to COVID-19 and weather cancelations, the UNT men's golf team will compete in 11 quality events in 2021-22, as the team's tournament schedule was released on Wednesday.
The Mean Green, which finished just outside the bubble of making the NCAA tournament last season thanks, in part, to a reduced schedule, will have every opportunity to make a positive impression on the rankings with a strong schedule featuring several staples on their schedule a couple of new events.
The season begins on Sept. 13, when the Mean Green host the Maridoe Intercollegiate at their home course, Maridoe Golf Club, in Carrollton. The three-day event annually features one of the toughest fields in college golf and is played on one of the country's most challenging courses. UNT then travels to Albuquerque, New Mexico, for The Tucker, hosted by New Mexico before heading across the Metroplex a little more than a week later to play in the Trinity Forest Invitational, hosted by SMU. The Mean Green will finish the fall portion of the schedule Oct. 18-19 in Little Rock, Arkansas, at the Little Rock Invitational.
The Mean Green open the spring portion of the schedule on Feb. 21-23, in La Quinta, California, at The Prestige, which is hosted by Stanford and UC Davis and features a loaded field on a tough desert course similar to what teams will see at the NCAA Championship in Arizona. The Mean Green then have a quick, five-day turnaround to travel across the country and play in the Florida Gulf Coast Classic in Placida, Florida on Feb. 28 and March 1.
The Mean Green then make return trips to the Louisiana Classics, the All-American Intercollegiate in Houston and The Hayt in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, all in a two-week span, before returning to the Aggie Invitational in Bryan, Texas, on April 9-10 in the final tuneup before the Conference USA Championship, which begins April 25 in Texarkana, Texas.
"The 2021-22 schedule might be the most competitive I have put together," UNT head coach Brad Stracke said. "We play a variety of courses and competition that will prepare us for the postseason. I can't wait for our first event at Maridoe this fall. I hope everyone comes out to watch us play."
