Soccer Earns Top 25 Votes

DENTON — The 16-time conference champion North Texas soccer team earned six top 25 national votes in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll released Wednesday,
The Mean Green who have never had a losing season in the program's 26-year history enter the 2021 season having won a league record eight Conference USA women's soccer trophies. The league has been around since 1995 and UNT didn't join it until 2013.
North Texas, who was ranked No. 24 in the nation just a couple seasons ago, returns all-conference performers Allie Byrd, Brooke Lampe and Madi Starrett for this coming season and welcomes one of the top incoming classes in the region that includes Vanderbilt transfer goalkeeper Sarah Fuller and junior college all-American midfielder Manami Okada.
UNT begins the 2021 season on Aug. 11 at home with an exhibition versus Texas A&M at 7 p.m. CT.
