HOUSTON — The North Texas soccer team aims to grab a share of first place in Conference USA Sunday as they travel to Rice at 1 p.m. CT.
Sunday's match will be streamed on CUSA.TV
The Mean Green (7-4-2, 3-1-1) enter the match with 10 points in the league standings, just three behind the league leaders UAB. The Owls (6-7, 4-0). who are in second place with 12 points, are undefeated in conference play entering the match on a four-match winning streak. A win Sunday for UNT would put them in a tie for first place with a UAB loss. They are at home against UTSA on Sunday.
UNT enters Sunday's contest coming off last week's draw against UAB. The Mean Green picked up another shutout last week with the 0-0 result. They have shutout four of their five league opponents this season and have outscored their league opponents by a combined score of 8-1.
UNT fifth-year senior Olivia Klein leads the league in goals scored with eight and total points with 20. UNT freshman Dani Jacobson also leads the league in number of shutouts with six.
The Mean Green are 8-3-4 all-time versus Rice, currently on a nine-match unbeaten streak, not having lost to the Owls since 2014. After Sunday's match the Mean Green continue their roadtrip to take on FIU on Oct. 13.
