DENTON — The North Texas men's basketball team fell 63-33 Sunday night at Saint Mary's in Moraga, California.
SMC (3-0) went on a 15-0 run in the first half that UNT (1-1) couldn't overcome. The Mean Green were led by newcomer Jayden Martinez who led all players with 13 points.
"I'm disappointed of course but give Saint Mary's credit," said head coach Grant McCasland. "They're a very talented and well coached team and put us in a hole early with their shooting and defense. The belief in our locker room is strong. We'll continue to work hard and be better."
North Texas was without starting guards Tylor Perry and Rubin Jones.
UNT returns home Saturday to host Fresno State at the Super Pit at 5 p.m. CT.
