Men's Basketball Falls In Nassau Championship Title Game

NASSAU, BAHAMAS — The North Texas men's basketball team fell to UNC Wilmington Sunday night in the 2022 Baha Mar Nassau Championship title game, 55-51, at the Baha Mar Nassau Convention Center.
In a game where points were at a premium for both teams, UNT (5-2) had a season-high 17 turnovers that the reigning CBI champion Seahawks (5-3) turned into 20 points.
Mean Green senior Tylor Perry who led the eight-team tournament in scoring with 64 total points was named to the all-tournament team. He finished with a team-high 17 on Sunday.
"Our team was looking forward to playing in the championship game," said head coach Grant McCasland. "But credit UNCW. They were really physical and did some really tough things. We love the mantra 'toughest team wins' and I definitely thought they were the toughest team."
Senior Kai Huntsberry finished with 53 total points over the three games in three days, which was the second-most in the tournament. He had 15 points on Sunday in the tournament title game.
North Texas will return home on Saturday to host Omaha at 5 p.m. CT. The game will be streamed on ESPN+ and the Mean Green Sprots Network, presented by Learfield on the Varsity Network app.
