All-Conference Forward Signs With UNT

DENTON — The North Texas men's basketball team signed two-time all-conference senior forward transfer Jayden Martinez Tuesday.
The 6-foot-7 transfer comes to the Mean Green after four years at New Hampshire where he totaled 1,139 career points (11.8 per game) and 565 career rebounds (5.9 per game). Over the last four years he's recorded 16 double-doubles.
As a junior in 2020-21, Martinez earned first team all-America East honors after leading New Hampshire in 12 stat categories including points, 3-pointers, rebounds, blocks and minutes. Over the last few regular season games that year, Martinez averaged 21.7 points per game with a .537 field goal percentage that included making 14-of-20 (.700) from deep.
This past season, he once again led his Wildcats team in scoring (15.1 ppg) and rebounding (5.5 rpg). He was named America East All-Conference Second Team at the conclusion of the year.
New Hampshire had a .531 winning percentage over the last two seasons combined.
Martinez is a Cibolo, Texas native where he graduated from Byron P. Steele High School in 2018. As a senior at Steele he averaged over 13 points and more than seven rebounds per game. As a senior he was named to The Express-News All-Area Boys Basketball Team. He was named first team all-district his senior and junior season.
