Marzilio Earns First-Team All-Conference USA Nod

DALLAS - UNT sophomore Vicente Marzilio followed up his NCAA Regional bid on Wednesday with another honor, as he was named to the First Team on the All-Conference USA team, the league announced Thursday.
Marzilio, who won the Conference USA championship last year before being named the conference Freshman of the Year, posted seven top-20 finishes in 11 starts this year and three consecutive top-10 showings. Marzilio was No. 118 in the latest Golfstat poll and has led the team all year, posting a 72.88 scoring average on the year with a season-low round of 66 at the Louisiana Classics.
"I'm proud of Vicente," said UNT head coach Brad Stracke, who added Marzilio's spring season has been one of the best he's seen in his time at UNT. "He continues to improve and keeps climbing the ladder."
Next up on Marzilio's schedule is the Norman Regional, which will be played at Jimmie Austin Golf Club on May 16-18. The top individual finisher at the event who is not on an advancing team will continue on to the NCAA Championship May 27-June 1 in Scottsdale, Arizona.
